Adjusting course.

This morning I gave my notice at Day 1, (just 2 days shy of the 4 year mark, FWIW.) I will be resigning my position as the Senior Technical Artist of the studio as of May 18th.

I really enjoyed my time there. There are some truly talented and highly skilled individuals at the company. The projects they have going are top notch, and I'm proud of the things I accomplished during my stay. Lately however, I've been feeling the need to realign.

For the past couple of months I've been taking a look back at my career and the projects I've been involved with over the years. The most rewarding experiences were those in which I was in a position to exert more control over the final game play experience. While I love technical art as well as creating CG artwork, game design is where my true passion lies. It's the reason I got into this industry to begin with.

I find myself a bit off track from the original path. It's time to course correct. I'll be finishing up my remaining tasks for Day 1 over the next two weeks, after which I'll be taking a good stretch of time off.
